Night and Day
Our Night and Day Review
Dry's scruffier, less sophisticated little brother residing in the next door bedroom. Usually full of dredheads, smoke and wasted looking individuals. This poky, atmospheric little dive is also unofficial arts centre for the city's misfits, playing host to a range of different events from live theatre, poetry slams and jazz sessions. One to look out for is the occasional 'Boom Boom', a vibrant cornucopia of live techno outfits, and video monitors showing weird and wonderful TV footage. Hey, you even get crayons to colour in the paper table-cloths.

Yeah, dear drinks, yeah, no draught, yeah depressive, arty staff. Just how I like it. At least the place has character!

Nowhere near as pretentious as Dry, but live acts can be a bit overpowering due to the size.

Good place to catch a band without the hassle of a larger venue.

erm, last posting was an information gathering process. i didnt realise that i rated the night & day 1/5. oops. it's not a bad place at all, although the price of booze is very high, do they have big overheads to take care of?
i'll give 3/5. might of got of 4 if you could bring a bottle :)

Night & Day is one of the few places here that gives a little hope that Manchester might not after all be a city only containing the things you can find in any other semi-big city in Europe.
Night & day has a little bit Berlin, a little bit Copenhagen, a little bit Prague. And lets face it: most other bars in Manchester are what appears to be Ibiza in a suit, so even though Night & Day not exactly underground, it?s the closest thing available.

It's a sh*thole with very highly priced drinks and unfriendly, money hungry staff.
So what if some big bands have played there, they aint played there since have they, probably cos they realised it was crap.

Loved it and wish we had a place like that here (Isle of Mann), caught a brilliant coupla bands (Grand Drive/Vessels) and loved the atmos. People seemed friendish for a biggish city type place too.

The staff are the best thing about this place even if they all seem to have PMT.

Retains the intimacy you want from a small venue without the bands being half-baked attempts at noise. It's my favourite venue in Manchester for it's size, ease of access, and quality of bands. You can literally reach your hand out and touch the bands if you're that way inclined. This is the unofficial hideout for Manchester bands, but i myself have not seen it occupied by dredheads.

As avenue for live music it has a good feel, compared to a lot of venues in and around Manchester. The place has a rep for being one of the better places to play and be seen to be playing so you can imagine the massive dissappointment of everyone who saw 4 live bands be murdered by what is probably the worst sound engineer ever. The bands worked hard but may as well not bothered, they were unrecognisable from how they normally sound. Come on guys get it sorted or do you simply not care!!

was once a good old fashioned manchester, smokey bar to chill out before/after a gig. now it constantly smells of w**d as you walk past and the bouncers have doubled in size(too much baby bio?). yep i agree with the dredheads comments too, probably explains the smells.

brilliantly decorated. ace pictures and lay out. food is pretty damn good. However, beers are only bottled, drinks are generally very expensive and it is one of the hottest and sweatiest venues in manchester when its busy. Some good nights put on though.

This has to be the worst place on earth, sweaty, hot, expensive, unfriendly staff, poor quality bands and filthy toilets. Avoid

If you like paying 3 quid for a warm can of red stripe, this is the place for you. they do often have good bands on in there and many well known acts, but the sound engineer is awful! my band has 2 gigs coming up in there and i'm not looking forwards to any. a new sound guy, and a fully funtional fridge could make this the perfect venue, despite being so small and cramped.
