Our Development Review:

This night came onto our radar sometime ago, but because of our commitments elsewhere in clubland, we weren’t able to check it out straight away. And that hurt because they were bringing guests like Osunlade, DJ Spinna and Phil Asher to Manchester, confirming in our minds that the promoters had great taste in both music and guests.

As soon as we had a free date on the first Friday of the calendar month we headed straight down for the second visit of deep house guru Osunlade and were treated to a night of soulful, rocksteady house that you won’t find being played at most of the house events elsewhere in town.

Mint Lounge has become one of Manchester’s best club spaces, largely through its quality roster of events. Along with Development, Friends & Family regularly pack the place out, El Diablo offer a quality night out and Saturdays from Nish Nash Nosh continues to be popular. The venue itself is one of Manchester’s only remaining better-than-average club spaces that support decent music, there’s two bars with efficient staff, a wide range of spirits, beers and wine on offer plus some dodgy looking syrupy booze if you fancy a drink that looks like medicine.

The promoters of Development are good guys; you can tell they’re genuinely passionate about what they are doing and they’re more than capable behind the decks as well. We caught up with them for an interview that you can read here:
