Our Jillys RockWorld Review:

Rock & Indie in this labyrinth of a venue. Any decent mosh-kid goes here on a Friday or Saturday, with three rooms of alternative tunes. The room at the back of the venue tends to be the hangout for the oldies, with 'proper rock', the middle room (the largest of the three) plays indie and newer tunes (touching on mainstream) whilst the third room at the front plays a weird mix of stuff. Overall for the money its pretty good value, and drinks prices are fair reasonable.

IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT GO AND SHUT UP WITH THE BITCHIN. ive been going for years and yes its got a distinct odour but its one of the things you learn to love about the place, it smelt better better when the smoking ban wasnt about, but you can say that about anywere. bouncers are approacable and bar staff are friendly and rather nice to look at. every one is friendly to talk to and ive spent many hours sat in the toilet gossiping with my fella sat outside. all the rooms have different music so everyones cattered for and its the only decent club i can go and rock in my jeans and trainers without stuck up girls and snobby boys.

Rockworld rules. People stop moaning about it, its a rock place they aint gunna have flipin chandeliers etc just to get broke, wudnt be same if the decor changed. There are no scallies, just a whole bunch of peeps rocking out and gettin drunk. i go once or twice every month, if ya go all the time ya will get bored like u get bored if u do same thing every week!!! Stop moanin about bouncers and barstaff, ur not there to make friends with them, they are there to serve plonkers.

It's brilliant, lots of great music, different rooms to suit different tastes. The people are really friendly, there is no fighting and no scallys! (thank god) You can go in, enjoy yourself, and relax, have a good night. I definately reccomend it. x

What a great venue. We travelled over from Liverpool for the Saturday night - and loved it! The main room and 80's room 4 are awesome. DJ's played wide genre of music to suit everyone! The staff on the bar and doors were really friendly and we felt right at home amongst all of the moshers, punks, metallers, rockabillys, hippies, fellow Goths and cyberdudes! Well worth another visit - and far better than the Krazyhouse. Rock on Rockworld!!

What a horrible place! No class, no style, no taste, awful music and full of immature people most of whom are old enough to know better and havn't yet realised its the 21st century. Only those with no self respect or dignity will end up becoming regulars as they will be the only ones who wont feel truly embarrased to be there. To be avoided like the plague.

Let's be frank; Jillys is a dripping, scummy, sh*thole -- but that's why you go there, right?! Not exactly high class, but that isn't really the point.

Been loads in the classic rock room on Saturday and it's absolutely awesome! If you like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi, Guns N Roses, Def Leppard and their ilk you will love it here. The people are really friendly, there's no attitude apart from people just rocking out! Great night!

One of the best clubs in the north west. In fact I love it so much that I've been a regular there for the past twenty years! With it's great drinks' offers (with a late license on Fridays) and four different rooms pumping out throbbin music to suit all tastes including classic and modern rock, metal, grunge, rap, dance, indie, industrial, Goth, EMO, ska, punk (yipppeee!), reggae, 60's classics and one hot and very sexy mainroom DJ! (you know who I mean..ha)....This venue is a Manchester stalwart and a major part of the history of the north-west music scene....

If you're with a good bunch of mates and you like goth/rock/punk (rooms for each type) then you're sorted. Drinks ARE expensive, so go somewhere else first (Grand Central further down Oxford St is pretty good). The best thing about Rockworld is that it's totally scally free-hurrah!

I used to go but i dnt anymore. I found that after goin a few times that they always play the same songs and the drinks are realy expensive. Things mite have changed though since i last went.

I have been to jillys afew times and had a great time. wots with all the pr*cks complaining. if you dont like the place then dont go it will mean less pricks to piss everyone off.Theres even one knob complaining about the place being full of goths it aint monroes dickhead.fair enough the drinks are expensive but the doors dont open till 8 so get pissed before you go in.its always a great night out highly recommended.

Well, what good can be said about rockworld? nothing in my opinion. Week in, week out its the same tracks played, no change or variation. Ok, they do bottled beer for a quid, BUT its ALWAYS at room temp thru having being sat at the side of the bar for days on end - hence its almost undrinkable. I would advise anyone not to the visit the dosshouse that is rockworld. If the scallies (yes - scallies in rockworld) dont piss you off, then the useless bar staff will.

Really good Club im sure. We went Halloween and i wasnt too impressed that night, the club was packed to bursting point. Also finding Your way round the dark rooms, to The ONE toilet in the building isnt a task for the faint hearted. That aside, really kewl place, good prices on beer, 4 differnt room to cultivate your rock taste buds and women everywhere.

Absolutely superb nite!! Drinks aren't the cheapest on a friday but on a thursday and saturday they're well cheap. Water is pretty expensive though but that seems to be what they sell most of if u get me!!! The music is class too, the new 4th room is cool too, ska type room but loads of old indie type shit, Pulp, Madness etc. The people are really friendly, i've only been going about 9 months but i've never seen a fight yet!! It's like a nice little community and a f*ckin great club at that!

The other man in the corner

Not going to rate this club well! The middle class "I want to be differnt" crowd come here. Who also find is essential do copious amouts of drugs because "Daddy tells us not to" kids do not deserve a club with such a decent layout. The prices are cheap and layout good. But... Don't dare say Mosher" because they are not moshers, oh no! Grow up!

This is the only place in Manchester that i can really let my hair down and get away from scallys! The music is rockin and thursdays rule. Its a quid in and a quid for vodka shots!!!

Basil

Could do with a lick of paint and a clean up but f*ck it! This is the only place I've found that'll play AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath etc back to back all night. Looses one mark for bing a smelly sh** hole.

Damn Can't give this place a Zero. This place is so poor a wouldn't even send my dog in. It is full of Goths, has no Change and Smells like Something had died in there. Definitely one to avoid. Go down castlefield instead.

I paid five pounds to get in and left fifteen minutes later. The bar had no change, the place was packed with confused teenage types, with nowhere to sit except the floor which appears to have been coated with semen.

Rockworld on a firdayis a pile of poo. If your idea of having fun is being surrounded by n*bs tw*tted out of their heads on god knows what then go ahead... knock yourself out... cos that's what I feel like doing every time I go...

Lou

The ONLY place in Manchester where you can truly be yourself. Great music (plenty of Marilyn!) & a good atmosphere. Beer a bit dear nowadays (who d'ya think you are, Gatecrasher?!) but once you visit, you'll be hooked! The main room is full of kids with big pants & small tops. Go to Rockworld & mosh like a B*****D!!!

nick

An amazin' place!! Best not to buy the pints when they are a pound, cause they are watered down. Great music, for all moshers with the differenct rooms. Its a good laugh. You should deffinately go!!

Tony

There are some clubs that are sleazy. There are some clubs that are loud. There are some clubs that are both of these things. But there is only one club in Manchester as sleazy and loud as the boudoir of the devil, and that's Jilly's. Yes, it is a bit crap...but it's like an old friend that you just don't mind being crap.

Hannah

A wicked place with a really chilled atmosphere, but not one for the faint-hearted! Pretty scary rock music, definitely one for the moshers! Good idea to get plastered beforehand, as drinks are a bit pricey, but doing the all-nighter at least once is a MUST!!
