Our Saturdays At Sankeys Review

If Saturday is the biggest night out of the week, it belongs to Sankeys...

We've got a soft spot for plenty of other Saturday clubs and the Warehouse Project turns our head every so often. But the fact is that nowhere turns out a cracking night as regularly as Saturdays at Sankeys.

Saturdays at Sankeys is a bit of a catch-all term to cover two regular club nights and whatever treats Sankeys has up its sleeve over the month. The second Saturday belongs to Kaluki, home to music so hot you could have a barbeque on the decks. Disco Electronica takes over on the third Saturday, filling the club with twisted electro-house. The first and fourth nights are given up to special events with DJs from across the spectrum taking over for marathon sets.

Whoever's playing, you know you're in for a class night out. You won't find glamour girls and boys leaning against the walls, trying to look cool - just people who are well into their music having a wicked time. The legendary Phazon sound system is miles ahead of anywhere else in town. The club itself has plenty of chill-out space, with a terrace outside for smokers and people wanting to take a breather and a chill-out room near the main bar for people wanting to sit down but still take in the tunes. Drinks aren't too expensive either.

It's a winner all round, and that's why we have voted it our number one club in Manchester.

I weny on Saturday 5 th Feb 2011. Must say the club is amazing and the atomsphere is unreal. I would disagree on the bounchers. They were freindy on entry to the club and on the way out they said good night mate.. Overall i must visit. Paul - Manchester

The BEST club in Manchester!! A group of us went last Saturday and the music was fantastic. Friendly bouncers and excellent service from the bar staff! However the drinks prices need to come down. Those not expecting them will have a heart attack when they order a VodkaBull £8 each!!

The club is great inside. ONLY in terms of music and interior design. The "security" are nothing but thugs hired from ex convict programs. They cannot handle crowds going to bathrooms, so they choose to push them down stairs. That is something I have actually witnessed. And the bouncers at the door are some of the most ill - minded people. They didn't let some guy in who was being extremely kind to them and yelling out racial slurs at him. And than let a girl in and said she's allowed in because "she has tits." Having an event management company of my own, I do research at clubs and other venues. I was extremely disappointed by the way this was run.

was in on staurday the 26th april !! What a fantastic night full of cool people all up for the music !! as good a night as anywhere else in britain!!!

went here on sat oct 20th for my 21st and what a brill nite it was!! never been here before but will def be going again. disco electronica is the best! the music is spot on the ppl are really friendly and the sound system is the best i've heard in manchester. only reason why i rate it a 4 instead of a 5 is u have to queue up just so u can go outside for a fag and the drinks are quite expensive too. £7 for a double spirit! apart from that cannot fault this place at all. will def be going again!!!

Without a doubt the best club in the North! Amazing sound system, ace underground atmosphere and not a pretentious person in sight! Must see Lewis Keykay on disco electronica night! Cant wait for Axwell! My only problem is the dredded smoke machine-dont stand near one!!

I WOULD HAVE GIVEN SANKYS A 5 IF IT WASN'T FOR THE BOUNCERS, WHO ARE SO RUDE AND PUSHY EVEN ON ENTRY. I LOVE SANKYS AND GO MOST WEEKENDS AND HAVE DONE EVEN BEFORE THE REFURB ITS THE ONLY THING THAT PUTS ME OFF. I THINK THEY SHOULD DO MORE ELECTRONICA NIGHTS, IT WAS WICKED LAST SATURDAY. EVERYONE REALLY FRIENDLY AND TUNES WERE HEAVY. MORE ELECTO HOUSE..........

I went down to Sankeys for the first time ever last weekend, and can I say i can't believe I've been in Manchetser for nearly a year and been missing out! Fit girls, wicked tunes and a nice crowd, couldn't be better unless they didn't have unisex toiets cos all those girls doing there makeup made it crowded. But that's my only criticism and I'm gonna be down there every week from now on.
