After a year which has seen cult clubnight Clique receive praise from NME, Elle and The Guardian, the club has just been voted one of Mixmag's Clubs of the Year 2007.
Clique has created a name for itself through both its sound music policy and its high-style crowd. Rather than dining out on Manchester's musical heritage by rehashing the same tired old Madchester tracks, residents Pisces and Niche Ian have breathed new life into the pop scene. On any given night you might hear Rachel Stevens or Sugababes played up against white labels, bootlegs, remixes and tunes from obscure new bands.
The crowd take the invitation to 'please dress up for dancing' to heart and fashion students, trendy gay men, Afllecks aficionados, vintage queens and label lovers all don their finest for the night.
After two years at Joshua Brookes, the club will be moving to Mint Lounge for the new year where it will take place alongside other celebrated nights such as Million Dollar Disco, Friends and Family and Development.
Congratulations to Clique - and we hope 2008 sees the club go on to even bigger successes!
