Simon Morrison of PAD Communications, the local PR firm that specialises in promoting the Manchester bar and nightclub trade, has written a frank and amusing set of memoirs that have now been published.
It's entitled Discombobulated – Dispatches From The Wrong Side and it's a collection of 50 of the best columns from Simon's work as a journalist, featuring wild and wacky tales as Simon careers ungracefully though the finest gutters and discos this planet has to offer.
The book touches on all manner of wonky misadventure. Everything from gatecrashing Kylie Minogue’s birthday party to getting deported from Russia. Hanging out with Take That's Howard Donald, raving in Ibiza with Judith Chalmers and looking down the wrong end of gangster Dave Courtney’s gun. The cast list also includes Simon le Bon, Paul Oakenfold, Back II Basic's Dave Beer and Coolio; the settings vary from San Francisco to Shanghai to Macclesfield. The perspective is always distorted through the Wrong End of a tall drink!
PAD Comm's recent work in the city includes the press stuff for some of the biggest and best we have, including Venus, House 9, Sankeys, Pure and Lakota. Discombobulated: Dispatches from the Wrong Side is in paperback and available from the publishers, Headpress and at Amazon.
