After 2 years and 6 months at One Central Street it's time for Funkademia and Northern Funk to continue its nomadic voyage across Manchester's nightlife terrain.
The events will say their goodbyes during the Bank Holiday weekend with the last Funkademia at One Central Street on Saturday 29th August. After that OCS will close for a refurbishment and a hush-hush new direction which includes a change in music policy.
The new home for Funkademia and Northern Funk is to be the Mint Lounge, right in the heart of the fashionable and dynamic Northern Quarter. Rather than have the two events split across 2 nights as they were at their previous venues, they will both occupy every Saturday night together with Northern Funk playing in the back room and Funkademia in the main room.
After beginning its life at The Boardwalk in 1995, Funkademia has lived in various Oxford Road venues including The Attic, Subspace and Zumeba before relocating to OCS.
The Funkademia line-up of DJs will be making the transfer over and we'll update each weekly listing for it when they're announced.
We're quite confident that the migration will be a success for them and we're always excited when there's a change on the horizon.
