Moho Live Review
Opening in December 2007, this venue adds a new string to John Locke's already considerably well-strung bow. Along with sister venue The Northern, Moho Live is a welcome addition to the Northern Quarter. The space is divided into two rooms - one large room which doubles as both a club and live music venue, and a smaller room set up for DJs. There's been a lot of support from DJ's around the city with nights such as Dave Haslam's Sweet Sensation, The Aftershow and El Diablo's setting up residencies and Stylus and Development popping in for one-off parties. This is probably down to the charms of John Locke, who has DJ'd himself everywhere from Cannes to the MTV Music Awards before settling in Manchester and seems to know most of the DJ's working in town at the moment. But it's the variety of nights on offer that really draws us to Moho Live. Indie bands, house nights, comedy showcases, soul bands, rock clubs and funk nights all have their place here and that's pretty damn cool.
